Program Features
The program offers advanced business knowledge of global business dynamics for mid-level business managers. As the program is targeting the corporate sector and the professional career business persons, courses and their contents are much more market-oriented and are designed to foster the students¡¯ on-the-job problem solving expertise.
The program has been existing in SBS for more than 30 years, and it has been playing a key role in today¡¯s SBS reputation in marketplace. Since its inception, the program is considered as the top evening program in Korea due to its curriculum excellence and academic rigor in education. The program accepts 100 students annually and receives applications every semester. At each admission round, the number of applications received on overage ranges 200-300 and it often goes up to higher levels.
As the program is designed to educate full-time working employees, placement is not an issue in this program. However, the target students have strong need to acquire basic skill and knowledge and update these skills and knowledge set to the level of practical implementation. Furthermore, the target students have added difficulty of taking classes only during evening hours in weekdays. Considering these unique needs and constraints of the target students, the program needs to be very effective in its design. Specific program learning goals are as follows.
- Students should acquire cutting -edge knowledge, analytical abilities, and practical application skills in general management through coursework and thesis and/or workshops reports.
- Students should improve students¡¯ logical reasoning ability and their capacity to apply knowledge in solving management problems by conducting case-analysis in class and writing a practice-oriented workshop report.
- Students should acquire required knowledge to improve the management strategies and utilize the knowledge fully.
- Students should be capable of understanding the importance of corporate ethics and applying the standard of ethics to their decision-making.
Curriculum
Students in Pro-MBA program are required to earn a minimum of 45 credits for the degree within two and half years (5 semesters) of program duration. Since students in this program are taking course only during evening hours in weekdays, the maximum number of courses they can typically take is on-average 9 credit hours per semester. In the first and second semesters, students typically take core courses that are well defined in our MBA programs. In the remaining semesters, students take elective courses based on their interests, and in the last semester, they also have opportunities to write a workshop report for a selected topic of their interest under guidance of core faculty members. In order to enhance students' global exposure, each of summer and winter breaks, the program offers Global Seminar (2 credit hours) which consists of field trips to overseas companies and students can take this opportunity up to 6 credit hours.
